Compared to Emerald Rapids (Raptor Cove), Xeon 6 (Redwood Cove) only has a slight average IPC improvement.
i had 463 CPU-Z pts @2800Mhz with the Q463 A2
compares to a Coffee Lake Intel Core i5-8500 @4100Mhz.
if you only have multithread workload the Q463 is not that bad, supports MRDIMM.
( i got it for $175usd from ebay(bloommax) missing caps as decribed but working )

Hi guys, and a big hello to RolloZ170! I have an IMB760 motherboard on which I want to unlock the TDC limit. It has 2 VRM controllers from MPS - MP2975. I think I found the I2C output on the pin pad on the motherboard. Is it possible to unlock it via TDC using the MCP2221A USB - I2C bridge, as on LGA3647 motherboards? I want to run the QVLP processor on it. I will be grateful for any help!

it is more possible that mobo don't support C0 ES because QVLP runs on supermicro X12DPi

MP2975 not supported, not a programming issue, MCP2221a can't read anything.
if you still want to try, you need MPS Dongle EVKT-USBI2C-02 and the MPS software with MP2975 support.

Hello sir. Could you please tell me if there are any pitfalls with using QVLP on an x12DPI-N6 motherboard? Can I buy any motherboard? I have a programmer so I can flash the BIOS. What do I need to know? I have two QVLP that I don't know what to use.

Got A QWAU ES. Supposed to be equivalent to 8360Y but lower base clock and higher TDP. Most software tools reports it as 8362B "SRKYM" does anyone know if this ever was retail or who the production version was intended for? The ES version is stepping 6 so works with most boards.

sometimes ES have multiple target SKU or none of if intel don't decided not take them in final SKU list.
check in BIOS for SST-PP profiles, if same with 8360Y it is mostly that spec.

For those who might be interested in using PMEM with SPR SE Xeons. I've got QYFS CPU working. Originally I wanted Q2SR, but I had several Series 300 pmem dimms, so I decided to give'em a try. System config:

QYFS CPU,
MS33-AR0 Gygabyte mb,
128 GB DRR5 (4x32GB), SK Hynix 32GB DDR5-4800 ECC RDIMM PC5-38400 HMCG84MEBRA1xxN
512 GB Pmem, (4x128GB), Intel NMC2XAD128GQS

PMEM firmware
Firmware version: 03.01.00.2671
Firmware API version: 03.05
Firmware Active API version: 03.05

View attachment 45457

MB had R11 BIOS when I received it. It didn't boot with pmem - stuck at memory initialization with B7 POST code. After multiple tries it worked with F01 BIOS from here. I had to manually provision pmem though. I still have error displayed when accessing BIOS setup screen or Total capacity in PMEM configuration.

Linux detects all 512GB as well as BIOS.

Provisioning:

Open Advanced tab in BIOS setup. Go to Intel(R) Optane(TM) Persistent Memory Configuration->Provisioning->Create goal config. Set Memory Mode [%] to 100.

View attachment 45460

Hit Create goal config. Save & Exit.

I tried to use ipmctl to do the same but it didn't work.

The system also booted with F10 BIOS version, but I didn't try if I can provision pmem with it. With F17 and R09-R11 it didn't boot. Stuck at B7 POST code, memory initialization.

Hope this might be useful.
Doesn't matter with the PMem firmware. they could mix. For the BIOS, start with F07(on MS33) Gigabyte canceled the support of memory mode but only keep the AD and ADnL.

For Q2SR, EMR did not have the incident that support PMems.

For ipmctl issue, only v03.00.00.0538 could fully manage the PMem 300 series module(Linux/Windows) just don't know why for now.

And the actual condition for QYFR/QYFS support PMem still in debate, but if you successfully boot CPS with it on a formal MS33 mb, then the iMC has less priority then BIOS when considering the support Amanda relationship between PMem and D0 SPR-SP.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone understand what is going on with the secondary market pricing for 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) CPUs?

I have a Supermicro X12DPU-based system and have been looking for a CPU for over a year just to test the board. I’ve been avoiding QS/ES chips since they are rarely reported to work reliably on this platform. Long story short, looking at current prices, I have these options:
  1. $450 – Silver 4309
  2. $1,500 - $4,000 – Gold series (16+ cores with 2.6GHz+ base clocks)
  3. $1,000 – Platinum 8380 (the absolute top of the line, 40 cores @ 2.3GHz)
Obviously, Option 3 seems like a no-brainer. But I’m trying to understand the catch. What is driving this massive price gap for this generation? Is the 2.6GHz+ base clock on the Golds really that critical for enterprise buyers? Or does the power and cooling requirement of the Platinums make them that undesirable?

off topic. there is already a similar thread.
3rd gen support PMEM, all want them, only a few available, so proce is high. china seller do not have them at home, they want to make profit, there is a wholeseller source.

Sorry, can you please point me to the relevant topic, found nothing searching.
Got 3Tb PMEM 200 when it was dirt cheap. But there's a catch - on some specific caching loads PMEM (at least series 100) isn't that good, got to find it the hard way and turn off completely to get the server back to normal after months of investigating the issue with Intel support.

about prices: serious question: if you had bougth some DDR5 RDIMM 32GB for each $150usd last year and you don't need them now, for how much would you sell them ? $120usd now because they are used ? maybe you can give yourself the answer about the 3rd gen xeon's prices.

I got your point, I understand the AI-driven RAM and disks price madness. My question was about relative prices across the 3rd scalable generation. AI chat supposes it’s just some random enterprise dropoff and also may be linked to licensing per core count for major virtualisation platforms
