i have experience with this with a X13SRA-TF. the two Supermicro LGA4677 W790 motherboards do not have Root of Trust Firmware,
so BIOS can be modified, not like all SM C741 motherboards with RoT, they verify BIOS on every boot(ch341a does not help)
To support SPR D0 ES on X13SWA-TF you need a ES friendly Intel Management Engine (Intel ME) otherwise the QYFQ will not start.
if you have a Test/Debug BIOS for the X13SWA you can give it a go, if not, no way.

SP2C741D16-2T does not Support SPR-HBM
tested on SPC741D8UD : it will start over but without using any HBM (unpowered/disabled)
QYFS is not supported by official BIOS, there is a tweak (add microcode and some more)
Q2SR (EMR A0) runs with the same tweak required on gigabyte boards(can be applied by BMC/IPMI)

So if I understand this correctly, SP2C741D16-2T will run QYFS with a tweaked bios-- how does one create this BIOS or is it available somewhere?

tested on SPC741D8UD / SPC741D8HM3, not tested with SP2C741D16-2T
if you still not have that board i do not recommend buying it. if you have one, buy first BIOS replacement chips and a programmer(e.g. ch341a)

Thanks. Unfortunately I already have the MB. I do have a CH341A. Which BIOS replacement chips are used here, looking at the board all of the chips appear soldered on the surface on first glance?

Hello again. I was looking at specs on the GB MS73 boards and they say 270W max, but the QVL has the 350W CPUs, am I going to problems running dual QYFS or Q2SR?

Also I'm considering running an MD72 due to the cheap RAM. Is an QVM7 and QWAT compatible?

AIR cooling: if two CPU are cooled in a row the second gets hot air of the first, i guess gigabyte recommends not more than 270W in that case.
2x 350W is working.

QVM7 C0 yes with old BIOS, unknown with actual BIOS.
QWAT D0 yes with all BIOS(QWAP,QWAQ,QWAN,QWAS...)

open the SOIC16 sockets (gray boxes with stickers, open the wings)
note: you don't need a programmer to update the BIOS, BUT if there is an issue you can never get the board back to live,
the BMC/IPMI flasher needs help from Intel ME(aloow chip access). if BIOS corrupted, no iME = no BMC/IPMIflash.

but the max. all core clock remain unchanged as expected. so this does NOT make Q2SR too a Q2SP (all 60C core 3Ghz)

In the end, I bought one Q2SR and two Q2SP. When they arrive, I will definitely compare them in tests. I think I will eventually settle on the 2xQ2SP configuration.

I'm running a MS73-HB1 and 2xQYFQ, and I haven't been able to get NVMe drives to work in the m.2 slots on the motherboard, they aren't recognised in the bios. I've tried an HP FX900 and a Samsung 970 evo. I'm using R07 bios (it didn't work on the 2023 factory bios either).
Using a PCIe to NVMe adapter works fine. Is there a setting I need to enable somewhere to get the slots on the motherboard working?

In case someone else comes across this issue, the problem was insufficient torque on the heatsink/carrier screws. 5.7 lb-in nominal for LGA4677.

I bought this CPU at Chinese 2nd hand market.
It's LGA4677 Xeon MAX 9480 ES (QS?) model.
I thought it's similar name of known stepping D0 model.
So, I thought it might work on W790 motherboard...
But there is no uploads of 806F3/10 microcode.
Is there any one who knows the details of this CPU?

e.g. some seller don't wanted to make business with superbuy, they tried with diff.agent accounts.
i tried to buy Q2SPs too, but they sell a pair only, was too expensive at 3000 CNY each even if the Q2SP is better than Q2SR(1666CNY)

I bought pair for 7000 CNY. Seller send me a photo one of them - it Q2SP.
Q2SR price over 1800 CNY now. 1666 CNY not in stock/old offer.
