Just to clarify, when you say Ice Lake is not supported by latest BIOS, are you referring to those ES models and not Ice Lake-SP models in general, correct?
note if the listing states e.g. platinum 8358 ES, don't expect the same features than production model 8358, the Brand String of ES is "0000" (show in CPU-Z and BIOS ) for good reasons.

hello, is it possible to use gigabyte bios as a template to modify other c741 motherboard to make them support A0 of EMR? For example some industrial motherboard from brand like avalue, axiomtek, aeeon, dfi, contec, advantech, kontron and others?

BIOS crossflash is not possible, too many differences.
the target motherboard needs at least a BIOS with 5th gen EMR support, then modifiy it IF ealry BIOS not work with A0
( e.g. ASRock Rack SP(2)C741 early/debug BIOS work with A0, later/official not, Hetzner worked with Q2SR )

Hello, has anyone seen issues with NVMe drives when using ES Xeons? I'm using Gigabyte MS73-HB1 with two ES 8480+. Everything works fine except for the M.2 slots. I suspected it might be PCIe lane conflict with GPUs, but even without any GPUs the NVMe drives are not detected. I also tried server grade NVMe drives (Samsung MZ1L2960HCJR PM9A3) with the same result.

sure, but you can have this also with retail used/worn out processors.
Everything works fine except for the M.2 slots.
swapped CPUs to sort out a bad one ?
processors installed properly ?
what BIOS now ? tried newer BIOS ?
will be good to have a non ES to sort the motherboard out (M.2 voltage supply)

e.g. if the right PCIe lane has no contact you have this issue.
there are no pins for each core to enable.
I think you were spot on here. I swapped the CPUs, but also tightened the holding screws a bit more than the last time. Both NVMe drives are now detected in the BIOS. Thanks for helping me solve this issue :)

how to use q30g on gigabyte motherboard?
on single socket you can just wait about 6 minutes, but this don't work on dual socket.
you can try a very OLD BIOS (e.g. T0x ) if available.
the CPU seller should provide a BIOS, if not PM me with motherboard model.

Hi guys,
First of all, thank you for sharing all this info on these forums.
I read through most of the posts, and as I see many of you with MS03-CE0.
I'm considering Asus W790 Sage vs MS03-CE0 (the goal is CPU inference with a bunch of fine-tuning with an additional 3-4 GPUs, Linux only), and I lean towards the Gigabyte mobo with 8x64 DDR5 5600 (JEDEC).
I already have a QYFS on the way, but I'd like to keep the option to upgrade to EMR (which is not possible with W790). On the other hand, the Asus board is advertised as a workstation board and I'm not sure if there is any significant difference if used as a workstation. I don't mind long boot times (I usually put my workstation to sleep), I don't need the management features, and I'm not intending to overclock anything. I have a USB audio interface and I'm fine without 20 USB ports.

For those of you who own the MS03-CE0 (or know it): are there any downsides of the "server" motherboard? Is S3/S4 sleep working?

Got 2 SPR HBM ES,
QDF ?
QYGH = HBM A stepping.
A steppings are not supported by any motherboard.
edit: unless you will run early debug/test BIOS (full of bugs and vulnerabilities)

Any idea which motherboard support those CPU ?
QS / PRD
Q2HS 9460
Q2HR 9462
Q2HT 9468
Q2HW 9480 (not on QVL but work)

single:
MS03-CE0
MS33-AR0
MS33-CP0
R263-S30-AAC1 (MS33-DC0)
MS33-CPA (OEM)
dual:
ASUS Z13PE-D16

ASRock do not support HBM (they run on SPC741 but HBM disabled, unpowered)

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the SuperMicro X13SEI-F motherboard and am in the process of purchasing a compatible CPU. I've read somewere in this thread that this board doesn't support ES CPUs, except for a few listed here:

I'm particularly interested in whether QS Xeon CPUs are compatible with this motherboard. Has anyone tested QS Xeons with the X13SEI-F? Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

(EV-)QS are always supported.
we differentiate between ES and (EV-)QS
ES = not prod. cpuid/stepping
QS = prod. cpuid
EV-QS = "Early Validation" no final stepping but full brand string and handled like a QS.
generaly if you see the full Brand string in CPU-Z it work on supermicro.
e.g. "Platinum 8470 (ES)" work, "0000" = ES may not work

Thanks for the quick reply and help! I have ordered the Xeon 5411N QS now :)
