i expected you talked about ES motherboards. you get them without BIOS chips. useless. with good friends you can get the BIOS(not legal)
the rule/term if you get ES parts from Intel/AMD:
if ES parts are no required anymore, they have returned or destroyed (make unusable)

I see. Well at some point i plan to create accounts on goofish or taobao, and so i should be looking for motherboards without 'ES' mention, and QS CPU's.. Thanks for clarification

not tried but this usualy works.
but base clock is nothing saying about performance and other SST-PP profiles can have lower TDP.

The 1.9x60 configuration is more powerfull in my use cases than 1.7x60. And as a bonus, it has lower power consumption.

Q2SR seems close to 8592v instead 8592+ because 8592+ doesnt support SST-PP.

Q2SP is the 60 core

And as a bonus, it has lower power consumption.

with less performance, you can limit TDP in BIOS to 125Watts if you want.
or just take the cheaper Q2T7 52 core 300W

Q2SP - best choice for my use cases, but it impossible to buy now. Q2SR with 1,9x60 SST-PP prifile seems close to Q2SP.

FYI: Confirmed SST-PP works on Q2SR. The 60-core SST-PP profile (Level 3) runs at **1.8GHz base**, not 1.9GHz. Full specs from `intel-speed-select perf-profile info -l`:

What is QYFS, QYFQ, Q2SR called?

What is A0, D0, R0?

What is a stepping?

And what I was asking for is a crosswalk list of which QYFS, Q2SR, etc. work with which motherboards. And ones that don't work with any of them like QY36.

engineering samples. the chars "Q2SR" are called QDF (retail have sspec e.g. SRABC )

Sapphire rapids stepping D0 is XCC(4 tiles), a CPU with one silicon is MCC and stepping R0 then.
Emerald rapids have stepping A0(ES) and A1(QS,production)

So let me see if I have my summary right.

All of the Qxxx codes are just called Engineering Sample codes.

Ax, Bx, Cx, etc are called steppings.

Ax, Bx, Cx, don't work in any motherboards.

Dx usually work in Gigabyte and ASUS boards, but not any others. Dx stepping also correspond to QYxx EX codes.

Rx and Ex usually work in any board and correspond to Q0xx ES codes. These are basically final production silicon.

Is this right? And if so, is that universal for all of the Xeon Scalable CPU lines?

sure but most you can't buy, and most are not for LGA4677.

note this applies to sapphire rapids. EMR stepping A1 is production and work on any c741 mobo with 5th gen support.

attention: ASUS is chipset W790. D0 only work because there are Xeon W ES with D0.
gigabyte means chipset C741 (intented chipset for these ES)

Dx stepping also correspond to QYxx

R0 is same than D0 but not chiplet.

no. stepping are different at each gen.
e.g. LGA4189 ICE Lake stepping D2 is procuction, B0,C0 is ES.
