Starting look at this again since my last post and I've found some additional options I would like some opinions on like is there any benefit to getting a QS over the ES?:

Intel Xeon Platinum 8461V - QS
Intel Xeon Platinum 8470Q - ES, E0 stepping
Intel Xeon Platinum 8490H - ES, E0 stepping

in this case there is another problem: Platinum 8461V is UP(0 UPI), single socket only regardless of ES QS or PRD.
but the 8461V EV-QS E3 will run on ASRock, the E0s not.
from what i know all E steppings have same cores = same microcode. but different uncore.
this is the reason why they have different cpuid's to be able to distinguish.

Thank you again for your help, and if I only need a single socket I'm assuming the QS is a better choice? The price difference is negligible

sure, if you can, choose QS.
note if you mean the 8461v Q16Z steppingg E3, this is "EV-QS"(early validation QS), there is a final QS Q23E stepping E5

Great, and yeah Q16Z was all I could find, can't seem to locate the Q23E. Seller says the Q16Z should work with the latest BIOS on any boards and he stated these all work, is something not guaranteed to work on ES chips or something?

you can't expect the same features on a ES compared to the final model.
sometimes ES support more than the final, e.g. 8 sockets and higher clocks,
the count of accelerators is not defined from start, mostly intel changes mind shortly before launch.
for that reason you read "0000"

true, all C741 boards. i have Q16Z at home.

@RolloZ170 can you confirm if bios v. R07 (jun 23 2024) on MS73-HB0 supports QYFS 8480+? Or QYFR?

Also does anyone have experience with QYFS or QYFX on MS73? Known bugs?

don't have MS73 or QYFS, but MS33-AR0 with QYFQ(and all others) work with R06
have not tested R07, will do later today.

QYFS works on MS33-AR0 bios R7, so I think all D0 would also work fine

how should i know ? maybe motherboard or cpu is DOA.
you need a cooler with CPU carrier to instal the CPU on the motherboard, just laying them together on the desk can't work.

some pins on, some not can damage CPU and mo.board, good luck.

yeah i was on xeon v4 before, si i have already the ecc ram but only on 2400t not 3200 ,i have received my artic and now it boot so you where right for that but now i have an other problem, i can only get 31000 at 1.7 ghz on cinebench r23 ,and when i manage to get 2.2ghz by desabling the turbostep on all core i only make 26000

cores 32/64 1.7 ghz with that i have got 31000, after that ive gone in the bios and disabled turbo step to get 2.2ghz,
so in cinebench r23 is say genuibe %0000
cores 32/64 2.2ghz but i only scored arround 26000

1.7Ghz is base clock, at load all cores go higher until the CPU hits TDP wattage.
if you want base clock 2.2 but no turbo you may get lower clocks.
some features of your WS board are not suported by non Xeon W like qwan,
