Hey,
I just bought some ES cpus for the first time and have a dual socket supermicro motherboard. I bought the model of the motherboard that the seller of the cpu's said would work.

When i boot the system i keep getting a Memory Training Failed error. The screen is stuck on this.
I have one Dimm per cpu installed.
What could be the problem?

Be more specific: which motherboard exactly, which CPUs ecactly, which RAM exactly? Did you verify that the RAM is good in another setup? Did you reset the bios?

Motherboard is X11DPH-T
CPU = QL2M Intel ES cpu (24core) X 2
Memory = Micron 16GB PC4-17000 DDR4-2133MHz ECC 16gb X 8 MTA36ASF2G72PZ-2G1A2IK

I took the cmos battery out of the mobo and restarted it a couple of times to reset the bios.
I have not verified the the RAM on another setup but i have 8 sticks so all of them can't be bad.

I tried a single stick with only 1 cpu installed and got the same error.
I tired both cpus in a single socket and still the same error.
I tried 2 cpus with all 128GB of the RAM and still got the same error.

So i now i can't figure out what the problem is the cpu, mobo or the ram.

QL's rarely work in dual socket.
Hey Patrick,

Will it work if i put in 1 cpu in dual socket? or is it better to use a single socket motherboard?
But in this situation I tried 1 cpu and it still won't boot.

Thanks

Using only 1 CPU usually works however most board features will be unavailable. Possibly LAN, SATA, PCIe, etc are enabled by the second CPU

Check for updates available to the BIOS, microcodes got changed a lot over past few years.

Which bios are you running? These processors came from me and unquestionably work in a dual socket configuration on a X11DPH-T

EDIT: These processors were tested in an X11DPH-T and Tq using Micron MTA36ASF2G72PZ-2G1A2IJ and Hynix 2Rx4 16GB dimms with no issues at all.. All of the memory modules are correctly seated and in the appropriate slots correct? Which slots did you populate?

Is this a new error that has 0 'code' to go with it starting at x11?
Not very useful :(

Also, if possible, please post a detailed picture of the cpu's installed in the sockets, both undersides of the cpu's, and of the sockets with no cpu installed...

Hi, I getting start to build dual CPUs,
I have QL1K processors and X11DPH-T,
I had massage no memory detected, as I found out that QL1K is a xeon platinum and should use memory 2666mhg but I had 2400. Currently waiting new memory. And I will populate them as instracted
Can you suggest me is there anything else I need to do to make it work.
Thanks in advance

Could be a ‘feature’ of the ES/QS chip but normally it would just clock down in speed

It supports up to 2600MHz memory, however 2133 and 2400 work just fine. Additionally, I've found the above referenced 2133MHz modules to be rock solid to-date when overclocked to 2600MHz in the DPH-T

See picture of QL1K's (which identify as QL2M's) running in a DPH-T using 2133MHz mem here:

I see, do I need to do anything with my bios like reset or updates to run as dual?
I was able to run dual processors out of the box with the bios that shipped, however, I immediately updated to the latest bios. If you can get into the bios then the processors are posting, no?

Just to verify, you guys have the processors installed in the board in opposite orientations, correct?

The bottom of the lettering should face the center line of the board for both processors.

Edit: Additionally, on the DPH-T you're only populating the blue slots (not the 4 black ones closest to the CPU). So, with 8x sticks, A1, B1, D1, E1 for each processor.
