@IamSpartacus How well does moonlight work for game streaming? The website claims 4k @120 fps, but my past experience with streaming makes me skeptical. My server closet is just far enough away that using dedicated cables won't work without using a extender that compresses.
I've been super impressed with it. Granted I'm not playing any FPS or anything. I'm mainly using it for emulated games, Starcraft and some GTA games.

How come you went with Asrock Rack over Supermicro for the motherboard?

Hi,
nice System. Do you know the idle power without all HDD and cards or maybe with 1-2 HDD? I had a 3960x and would changed to this CPU and exchange the board. Because the idle power is too high.
Thx

At the time I posted this with the configuraton as outline in the OP the numbers were as follows:

Idle power usage with array disks spun down = 165 watts
Idle power usage with all 16 array drives spun up = 225 watts

I saw. But maybe you had more values. Because my setup with 3960x, 6x16TB, 6xM2 SSD (ASUS Hyper), Nvidia GT1030, Idle 100W with no VM, with VM started 135W and I would go down to 75/80W with no VM started and with VM 100/105W. I don‘t know if this is possible with this EPYC CPU because idle clock is much lower vs. 3960x

Sorry I have no additional numbers other than what I posted. You'd need to extrapolate from that. My system had 8 sticks of DDR4-3200 RAM, 3 GPU's , an external SAS3 HBA, and a dual 40GbE NIC for reference.

no problem. I get my CPU on saturday.
My setup is now:
Epyc 7452
Asrock Rack ROMED8-T2
Kingston 128GB (4x32GB) 3200
6x16TB
6xM2 SSD (4 on ASUS Hyper)
Nvidia GT1030
USB card

idle no VM started (only Docker container and 2 HDD not in spin down)
62-68W
with one VM started 90W
that‘s perfect and is 45/55W more less as before and now with 8c/16t more
