Hi!
I need to get the best performance out of an old database system as possible (ADS in Windows 2019)
The system does very rarely use more than 8 cores, but I would prefer to have some reserves...
My question is: which would be the best performing CPU setup, if costs do not matter?
Is a single socket system with a 16C CPU faster than a dual socket system with 2x8C?
The dual system has a larger cache and more memory bandwidth and a higher boost clock, but also a higher latency, if cache is read from the other CPU.
What would you do?
Thank you and best wishes
