The Intel P4608 SSD has a power consumption of 43W (write) and 24W (read) during sequential operations. When idle, it consumes less than 5W.
To be fair it's not really clear what the Conditions are for those Writes & Reads though. Is it sustained I/O with Throughput at > 3000 MB/s for several Seconds ?

I'd expect my use case to be mostly Idle on a Desktop or so.

Actually it looks like it's 2x3.2TB Drives with a PCIe Switch in it:

So it's actually 2 SSDs in 1.
Would that mean that there is no need for further RAID (ZFS Mirror) since it's already 2 Drives in it (and we can assume that most Paths are independent, EXCEPT is the PCIe Switch fails) ?

Apparently it should be possible to set the Power Governor Mode to 35W or 25W instead of the default 40W:

List Price currently on eBay.com is more like 250-300 EUR each.

If you won them for less or there were other sales previously it's another Thing.

Minus VAT (25%) I wouldn't say so. Unless you already deducted the VAT for your 100-120 EUR Figure which is not the Prices currently on the Sites.

It's true that they start low with the Bidding Start. However, it's usually NOT true at all that the "Buy it Now" Price is SO low.

Have you seen what ridiculous Prices they usually have as "Buy it now" (compared to what the Auction typically sells for) for some old SATA SSD, Supermicro/Dell 2.5'' Caddies or some SFP+ 10gbe Transceivers ? Like asking 599 EUR + when the Auction typically ends at 100-150 EUR.

I cannot post those because it's not visible anymore since somebody put a Bid on those Offers but this is one of the few Examples I have on hand right now:

Don't suppose there are any good deals on more normie SSDs like 970 Evo Pluses, 990 Pros etc?

They are slow, and have low endurance. You really do not want those SSD's. The benchmarks you read for consumer SSD's are fake, and doesnt represent real workloads. For example, most people use SQLite with one of their favorite apps, while these applications doesnt really stress the SSD. Overall impact should be considered. Samsung consumer SSD's are among the slowest SSD's for SQLite.

Yeah but they don't sell Lots of 50 Pieces.

It's always pretty small Auctions they have. Usually 2-8 Items each Auction.

That way they avoid direct competition with sales listings, do not set a perceived unit value and can get people engaged to bid them up.

Its also very predictable as they know exactly how many months of listings they get out of a lot/pallet before needing more (if happy with their average sales price).

Just a note, MX500 pricing cannot be used as reference anymore, it's out of production and prices are quite random and inflated (and it's definitely not a $100/TB drive)

You might as well go for something Bigger "new" at the same Price & NVMe Speed.

My brother in Christ, I don't need enterprise TBW or PLP in a machine that gets used 20 hours a month for benching obscure crap like Fury Xes.

a 2TB 970EP would be nice for the P51 behind me though.

Speed is not important at all, m.2 slot is pcie-3 x1 only.
But I'd like to have a drive that is meant for enterprise use.
~200GB should probably be more than enough

That they were slow movers in general due to the amount of "issue posts" for them was my assumption for the abnormal price per tb compared to single drive cards.

Well apparently these 6.4TB are 2x3.2TB Drives "inside" (after the PCIe Switch). So ... are we talking about the same Thing or not ?

Truenas boot drives don't need anything special, especially since you cant run apps or vms off the boot pool. Literally anything will work - 16gb or more. Ive used high endurance sd cards for it no problem. I always recommend mirroring with at least a usb connected sata drive if you only have 1 onboard slot for boot.

2280 or 22110? Less choices of enterprise options for 2280, but some. For 2280, the 7300 MAX is widely available on eBay but only in the 800GB variant. Really, I'll agree with @MSameer for a cheap boot drive, you can't go wrong with a 16GB or 32GB Optane M10. It has a TBW of something like 400TBW, which is crazy for a drive of that size.
