Hi everyone,

Which of the following enterprise SSDs would be the best choice in your opinion for a VMware vSphere set-up:

Intel D7-P5510 3.84 TB
Micron 9300 Max 3.2 TB
WD/HGST UltraStar DC SN840 3.2 TB

I have a Supermicro server with PCIEX 3.0 x16, and x8 slots.

Is there anything with the above drives that would prevent me from using them via an PCIEX 3.0 x4 to U2 adapter in a PCIEX 3.0 x8 slot ?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

My thinking:
For open/free firmware download: intel > micron > wd
"Reliability"*: intel > wd > micron

*intel & wd(better hgst) made excellent sata & sas ssds that were used in many storage appliances & SANs.
(Most of the hgst ssds on ebay are from emc or netapp sans :D)
