EMC / HGST Firmware locked ssd

Hello guys , my first post here. I found EMC / HGST ssd on NEW 1.6TB SSD SAS Enterprise Drive - EMC / HGST - Emc. Pn. 118000043-01 | eBay eBay. The deals looks pretty good to me , wonder what you guys think?
Also, is there anything I should be aware when it comes to emac locked firmware ? Other than I need to reformat to 512B sector size?

I have some hussl1640ASS201's (400GB models) of this exact same drive, no issues sg_formatting them and they are GOLDEN!

Never had to deal with EMC firmware before but I'd almost guarantee it's got different settings/timeouts than the normal OEM firmware. It should work, but may not act how you'd expect it to during certain operations or checks.

I've got a bunch of these available that may be identical part number... will take a look and report back. If the same, I can try plugging one in to see what the smart info looks like.

thanks for everyone's feedback. the next question is it is compatible with serveraid_m1015_sas_sata which is using LSI SAS2008 chipset.

Is there any solution to/for this problem? I've got a couple HGST 800GB SAS SSDs (link below) running firmware version B204, just wondering if i should even bother continuing research -- Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

It's compatible with IBM M1015 raid card. Running fine with HGST 800GB ssd for a few months.
