Just a simple upgrade, but it made my day anyway.
My old workstation "Embruddock" (yes, all my system names are inspired by the Helliconia trilogy) was getting a bit long in the tooth, and so I decided to go for an upgrade. My requirements were:
The bare machine runs Proxmox VE, and I run either a Debian or a Windows 10 VM to which I pass through the 1080Ti and the main USB controller.
Sure, this is not one of those 64-core über-beasts I see around this place, but I am pleasantly surprised by both the single-thread performance as well as 24 threads running at 3.5 GHz.

- RDIMM support.
- Good single-thread performance for gami^Wresponsiveness
- A decent number of cores (at least 8 or 10).
- Proper no-funny-business VT-d support.
- IPMI
- Supermicro X11SRL-F mainboard
- Xeon W-2265 12 x 3.5 Ghz (boosts to 4.6 GHz).
- 4 x 32 GB 2933-MHz RDIMM.
- NVidia Geforce GTX 1080-Ti (an Asus 2-slot blower variant of that card).
- Intel X710-DA2 2x10 Gbe networking.
