Can you run iperf when you get it? I'd be curious if it could route 10Gb with that processor.

Unless you need a brand new barebone, you can pick up a higher end X10SDV (at least 4-core) motherboard off eBay for ~$250. Seeing as the chassis is under $200 new (and closer to $100 used), don't think it's a particularly good deal.

It's going to a co-worker but I'll ask him if he can report back.

Which model exactly? Some of them ( X10SDV-4C-TLN2F ) only offer 10gb base-t nics (X552/X557) and were problematic.

That's the most common model (at least on eBay). Wasn't aware they were prone to issues? I've had multiple running for years. The ones with 1GBe NICs tend to be cheaper when they pop up as well.

The 10Gb base-t nics were the only ones with issues. I had loads of connectivity issues with them on multiple X10SDV-12C-TLN4F-O. Looks like most of them had issues with the slight exception to the D-1541.

I can confirm that the D-1500 series had issues with their nics - I sold two boards because they were unstable - supermicro had several firmware fixes for them and as I remember it was not only supermicro boards that had issues.

But to get back on point - I agree with @BlueFox I don't think its a particular good deal for a 2 core board and a chassis - but its decent and will make up a nice firewall or low power vm host.

Interesting. I have used a X10SDV-4C-TLN2F as my primary FreeNAS/TrueNAS for a few years and have had no issues. What sort of issues have been reported?

Unstable network, i.e. disconnects - where the server loses connection and then reconnects - and sometimes loses connection, so a hard reset/reboot is required.

And its not only the 12 core machines that had this issue.
