Not sure if it’s legitimate but I bought three. Price is at 3 or more.

Basically 275 a processor.

The processor sSpec (SR2KE) is legitimate, but hopefully the parts you ordered are legitimate ;)

Honestly, sight unseen, I would think they are. The single unit price is comparable to all other listings and, as was noted in another thread, the E5 v4 prices are quickly dropping. If I needed Broadwell-EP processors for a server/workstation I would be all over them.

I only needed 2 but it paid its self to get the 3rd in that pricing model. Yeah I’m more thinking the seller legitimate, than the parts.....

6:30 am edit just got usps shipping numbers. It’s legitimate seller.

As long as this turns out well for @Prof_G, this is a good example of how eBay feedback percentage may not be the best indicator for low-volume sellers. The seller has a ~97% feedback rating due to one negative feedback 6+ months ago - but on feedback from 43 buyers/sellers in the past 12 months. In other words, check the number of ratings when you see lower than 99-100% feedback for a seller.. it might tell a different story.

Looks like it's no longer $275. Up to $384 if you buy 3+.

Yeah, I thought about going dual socket but decided to stick with one for many reasons. I know it sounds cliche, but modern processors like EPYC have reached a point in core density where software scaling is the biggest bottleneck. Besides, by the time the E5-2699 v4's are $300 each, you could probably get a 64-core 7742 for $600 (I see the 7742's listed for under $1,800 today).

Yeah that 2679v4 200watt. It’d like another 4500 points above this one but they don’t show up often right now. Maybe after more data centers come out in a year or two they will show up more and drop.

Coming from dual 2630v3s it’s about double the speed.

If I was building out a brand new pc I totally agree a single Epyc is more than enough to get the job done. The Zen+ is crushing the market right now. The Ryzen 2 through 4 series has hands down smashed Intel’s model I feel like Intel is where Amd was at 7-9 years ago. Need to do a ground up chip overhaul.

Not sure why intel dropped the size on L3 cache on scale series.

Definitely, and healthy competition is as good a motivator as any. I wish IBM would have figured out the consumer marketplace with their POWER series processors. Maybe the ARM race (pun intended) will yield good results.

I am not going to try to be an Intel apologist, but in general.... when you see flagship products seemingly less capable than the previous generation, it is for one of three reasons:
  • Market survey found that the majority of customers don't take advantage of the increased capability
  • Maintaining or increasing the size of the resource would make the product too expensive compared to competition
  • That metric is not as significant any more - think about how clock speed plateaued while instructions per cycle (IPC, no, not that other IPC) due to architectural changes became more important

Two posted in the Dell. The Third processor seemed to hang my dell up and not post bios. It managed to land in the number one PC slot and took a bit of shuffling. As this is my engineering workstation that I have Solidworks/Autodesk Platforms on windows.

Passmark Software:
ProcessorCPU Score AllSingle Thread Memory Speed System
Intel E5 - 2630 v3 (Dual Processor) 17,500-17,800 1615-165064 Gb @ 1866(Processor Limit)4x16Gb Dell 7910
Intel E5 - 2673 v4(Dual Processor) 35,400-35,700 1630-164064Gb @ 2133(Memory Limit)4x16Gb Dell 7910

I'm Please with the upgrade and may re task this box to server duty.

Will re-bench when I have the next set of 4x16G of 2133 in as moving to the quad channel may see a slight bump but not expecting much. (Friday time frame for re-bench.)

Additionally, processor is capable of 2400 so may if you have faster memory see a small bump in speed here if you have that.

Can't complain about seller thus far as they shipped fast.

About the 3rd processor I reached out to seller haven't heard back but hope to get a replacement.

Looking into getting Single/Dual Processor boards as I'm thinking of re-tasking the old 2630's to replace old x5660 Server. Thoughts PM me as I do want to try and keep this About the 2673v4. I may break off and ask about boards in HW Section too.
