Which is exactly my point. Yet this is not underclocking, nor overheating. This is a laptop under load.
its not intrinsic of the cpu hardware. a 1 core load plateauing at 99 degrees is what happens in a slimline laptop or mac pro (and all smart phones), but not a good example of a workstation laptop with appropriate cooling running 4Ghz on one core all day.

my humble opinion there is a flexibility issue with these xeons!

2 x 2667/2687w v2 is where its at :p

Just got asus z9-pe-d16. here's new cinebench for dual 2696v2 :)

Also I got some crazy number under cpuz bench. look at that comparison to i7-6950x!

I was playing around with the x2apic and cpu power settings

Its nice that this MB also support s3 sleep!

2696v2 however killed the 6950x in multithread. it's not even closed.

also, as far as cinebench is concerned, 2696v2 actually beat 1950x slightly. I wish we have the cpuz number for 1950x

That CPU is overclocked, it has turbo boost to 3.4Ghz. Not really a fair comparison. I guess the laptop is heavy and bulky too. I don't even overclock my workstation with a i7 6700K because it overheats with air cooling.

And this is exactly why this is no Threadripper or W Xeon. For me I think the 2667 is a better buy.

Thanks for sharing.
no one buys these xeons for any task less than at least 4 - 8 cores. but as you can see, once you get above that even 1950x has to give some credit to dual 2696 v2
