Anyone had any experience with Duntun S5048-4X-2Q-SI switches? I cannot find any details about the manufacturer or model in question except for what the sellers at Alibaba or Taobao or AliExpress have put in their descriptions. The 24-port lesser model seems similar to Tp-link TL-SH1812 but for 2 less SFP+ ports and added managed features instead, or TL-SG3428X-M2 with 2 extra SFP+ ports. The one in question seems to have 48x2.5Gb BaseT, 4x10-25Gb SFP+ and 2xQSFP 40Gb ports along with managed features. That's quite a capacity in one device. But I haven't heard of Duntun, the manufacturer, or the specific model in question for that matter... Have you? It's certainly not Tp-link, Juniper, Cudy, Zyxel, Hasivo etc. Either way, it seems to be kind of the same thing as that aforementioned Tp-link 24+8 port device that STH reviewed earlier in that it's available only from those Chinese platforms and not that well known outside of China. Question is is it legit non-blocking with truly good managed features enough to risk buying it? Or maybe it's one of those manufacturers network specialists know of as good ones just less known?

My guess is that it's similar to brands like Sodola, Hasivo, YuanLey, etc. Duntun probably either designs a PCB around some switch platform (possibly a switch chip manufacturer's reference design), or they simply put their brand on a finished design from someone else doing that.

My guess would be that it might be similar to this other switch Patrick reviewed:

It would be interesting to find out more about it though. :)

It certainly looks similar, just with 4xSFP+ and 2xQSFP instead of the 2x2x configuration on this tested device. While Hasivo at least is known to me, and I've had a few of their low port count solutions, the DunTun brand I've never heard of, let alone that switch I'm considering... certainly it could be just yet another China-only OEM infrastructure oriented devices, as you mentioned, constructed around switch chip manufacturers guidelines, but as with everything, the cuts to get the price palatable could be only cosmetic, these I'm kind of glad of, or functional, making such a device actually heavily crippled and consequently not worthwhile. Or maybe they're backdoor heavy or they're very power hungry and extremely noisy, or noisy and throttling fast anyway, or a truly blocking design... But maybe the team here or the community had experience with them and can shed some more light on these... Somewhat similar devices from reputable non-China-only brands with regulatory markings and official international support go for triple or quadruple the price - in a corporate environment one could argue that these guarantees can be worth the premium, but for a home environment, provided the device is good and safe enough, it might not be.

There are supposedly another version of the switch STH reviewed that had 40G ports (it's mentioned in the video).

It wouldn't surprise me if they are both essentially the exact same switch, similarly to how some of the switches Hasivo sell are also sold by at least 3 other brands. It would be nice to find out for sure though. :)

Yeah, pricing of similar switches from more well-known brands are significantly more expensive, that's for sure. Even the pricing on the Taobao switch above also varies a lot. I saw what looked like the identical switch on AliExpress in the $1200-1400 range. :D

Yeah, these type of switches are perfectly fine for home lab setups. I'm using a Hasivo switch as my main home switch now because its feature set don't really exist from more reputable brands yet.

I wrote up a quick review of my unit that just came in. I go through the UI too.
Thanks! It looks like this seems to be the manufacturer of the "Duntun" switch: S5048-4X-2Q-SI L3+ Managed Switch, with 48*2.5G Base-T, 4*25G and 2*40G uplinks, Smart Fans - Shenzhen Hohunet Technology Co., Ltd
Have you found a place where to get manuals or firmware for download?
I want to replace the Mikrotik CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM I currently use. I use QSFP+ to SFP+ split cables to have more SFP+ connections.
Is it possible to split QSFP+ to 4x SFP+ with this unit?

In case someone is interested, the Aliexpress seller has sent me a Word document "maintenance manual" in Chinese. I have translated it to English with the help of Google and converted it to a pdf.
He also sent a 2269 pages pdf document "Switch Command Line Manual". Nice! But in Chinese. Too large for electronic translation, but it is usable. If the technical specs are true (600GBit switching capacity), this is a really interesting device.
The Hardware is completely different to the switch tested here
It uses a different switch chip from a Chinese manufacturer, probably this one: Centec
Unfortunately I cannot post the files here in the forum, "The uploaded file is too large for the server to process."
I can try to upload it somewhere, if there is interest.

Oh, and to answer my own question: Yes, it is possible. It is described in the mentioned documentation.
I am tempted to buy the Duntun switch, but maybe it is wiser to spend a little more money and go for a Mikrotik CRS326-4C+20G+2Q+RM, as I currently won't need more than 20 RJ45 ports.
Choosing the Duntun would be more adventurous :) and I can connect all available wall sockets, which aren't used and probably never will.

You could upload them to one of the common file hosts like Mega, Mediafire, etc. :)

If it uses a Centec switch chip, perhaps this review from a few years ago might be of interest:

I have bought the "Duntun S5048" switch. I am impressed. It is a solid device which can do pretty much everything you can think of - when using the CLI.
If you are looking for a "Smart-Web-Home-Switch" this is the wrong device, because the Web-UI only offers the most important settings.
Setting the IP address of VLAN1? Use the CLI. Set up a DHCP client? Use the CLI. Set up LAG with LACP? Use the CLI.

Here is a picture of the main board and power supply. The power supply is single voltage 12V, it should be easy to replace in case of failure.

Hardware and software are very similar to the fs.com S5800-48MBQ switch, except for the hot swappable power supplies and fans. You can see the solder points for connectors for the power and fan modules on my board, too.
https://www.fs.com/products/127672.html

For CLI documentation and recovery boot instructions in English, the documentation from fs.com can be used.

EDIT:
Btw, fs.com offers a switch with the fixed fans and power supply, too:
But this switch is not yet available and has not yet any useful documentation available for download.
