FWIW, I have a bunch of these and they are nice, especially if you want to use multiples as hyper-converged nodes. 6 disks per node, 2 nodes per box, SQ power supplies (so very quiet overall), and 3 PCIe slots (but only 4 DIMM slots per node as noted above). Other models have more DIMM slots but fewer PCIe slots. If I could justify it, I would get more of them.

I know the seller, they offered these in bulk to me but I refused. Great price though, but if you want to buy them in bulk you might get a better price = ).

Do you know if there's a way to find blades only? I already have a CSE-827HD

How noicy are they?
I'm thinking of upgrading my ancient IBM servers (xeon 5300 serie) that I use at my house.
Would be great performance upgrade but mostly interessed if these could be relocated to closet or something other than my warm garage.

4x FAN-0129L4: 11k rpm, 80mm. These fans will be loud even with optimal setting in ipmi (30%pwm, ~3900rpm).

@WeekendWarrior maybe someone is willing to go in on half? :p

@Mauri Lehtikangas it's actually pretty quiet for a 2U server. I had one sitting in my office 6 feet away and didn't even bother replacing the stock fans. I'd expect it to go well in a closet as long as you've sorted out how to circulate cool air in and hot air out.
