The customer is looking to remotely manage the HBA using out-of-band (OOB) management. although Broadcom officially states that this feature is supported, the storcli.efi /c0 set oob command consistently fails or returns an error message.
They do support MCTP out-of-band monitoring, but in practice, you'll still rely on in-band tools like storcli2 or LSA for configuration/management on most non-OEM chassis. If you're looking for full remote management without host OS drivers, generic BMC support can be hit-or-miss.
