Do Supermicro haswell motherboards require ECC?

I am looking to build another ESXI host for my home lab and thinking of using server grade board.

I found the Supermicro MBD-X10SLL-F-O on newegg for a decent price but says it "supports ECC memory".

Does this mean it "requires ECC" or that you can use ECC or regualar DIMMS?

Use ECC. No real reason not to. Good price on that one. Still hard not to get the X10SL7-F if you do storage.

The reason I dont want to use ECC is I already have 32Gb of non ECC memory that I wanted to re-purpose for this project.

Also this calls for UDIMM ECC which is very expensive and looks like a lot harder to find than RDIMM ECC.

That motherboard is nice but I dont plan on doing any local storage just a ESXI host for the cluster (lol cluster of 1 to start with).
