Setting up a new home lab - currently I have a single PowerEdge R630 which boots ESXi from thumbdrive. PowerEdge is connected to Synology 1819+ with 10GBE - iSCSI provided datastore.

I have installed Windows Server 2016 VM (2vCPU, 4GB RAM) and have used the PVCSI disk driver and installed VM tools and Crystal Mark gives following fairly lowish looking results:

In the 1819+ I have:

3 x WD Ultrastar DC HC510 512 (10TB .
1 x 960GB Intel D3-4510 as read only SSD Cache

Any thoughts as to how to improve ?

Next test is to take a second 960GB Intel D3-4510 and set up read/write cache.

That looks like expected performance for 3 hard drives. Seems to be hitting the cache on random as well. I'm not really sure what you're hoping for?
