Always wondered why Supermicro LGA 1155 boards had a C while single socket LGA 2011 boards had an R. Was at Supermicro today and the decoder ring got updated (and this was probably obvious to most folks:

X9 series, S is for single socket, C is cougar point whereas
X9 series, S is for single socket, R is Romley

That easy :)
