Have any of the STHers used the desktop 2-post rackmount systems? They are like $45 on Amazon and I was thinking that these along with some shelves might be an attractive way to house NUCs and such.

Here is what I am talking about:
$45 Startech unit: http://www.amazon.com/Startech-19-Inch-Desktop-Open-Frame/dp/B001U14MO8/
$45 Tripp Lite unit: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015YPPK1E/

If anyone has experience with both or others, that would be great to hear. Just looking for a way to get more organized.

@T_Minus those appear to be less than 19" wide. I do have some rackmount gear (e.g. Mikrotik CRS226's) that I want to add on this rack as well.

I used "Lack Racks" for a few years before I got a real rack

LackRack - Eth0Wiki
I thought about this but since I need to remove gear constantly I want standard racks. Also for $45 with Prime these options are a bit cheaper than the Lackrack plus heading to the East Palo Alto Ikea.

Only in the studio for fx processors, compressors, gates etc. You've got to watch the angle of dangle as this will limit the length of things you're mounting - you can put longer things higher up to clear the bench but then if there's any weight to them it'll wobble a fair bit!

this is a perfect way to get a set of rails for the IKEA cabinet enclosures...
