Yeah, Novac is really nice. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. Don't know if you have every seen this documentary on the NSA supercomputers back in the 90's, but they were using Fluorinert even back then.

That 2990x is a beast. I’m sure it would do really well on a database server also. AMD needs to offer these with RDIMM support as part of the EPYC series. I would happily trade the power consumption for increased clocks.

No one has any idea how to say change multipler to something resonable say 32 or all core turbo bit higher say 28 like we do with xeons or get the dam ram to overstock to 2666 like xeons (2400) without instant clear cmos. FYI latest windows update nice speed bump across the board dual 7501 6600 cinebench with 16 2133 ram. Ddr2666 on the way

Windows 10 by the way if I could get all core turbo at say 3ghz I could get rid of dual 2683v3 because single core be good enough for everything. Not sure dual 8 pins and 4 pin from power supply 350w be enough on supermicro h11 dsi nt or if vrm would handle that maybee 2.8 all core watercooled

Is it really? All benchmarks I have seen so far indicate that it scales very poorly with memory speeds. It scales a little better on Zen CPUs for other reasons, but still far from being memory bound. Sure, If you want those 50 points to get first place in an overclocking competition you have to crank up the memory as well. CPU clock speeds translate almost 1:1 into higher scores, memory speeds do not.
Perhaps on your quad core you are not memory bound... on server running slow ram... very bound.

I held the Cine 9.5 WR for over a year due to having low latency ram... my quad opty was at 3.8ghz on 48c... the newer 64core 4-4.2ghz opterons couldn't unseat me.

This quad numa per socket architecture is going to be super memory sensitive, rome should help quite a bit with that though.

I don't own a quad-core, but thanks for explaining in a condescending way although I tried to make my point as precisely as possible:rolleyes:
As did I... It is not condescending to assume you have the most common core count and that your bottleneck is elsewhere... I didn't get much improvement on my x79 rig overclocking ram, even with an octo, doesn't mean cinebench isn't memory sensitive, just means the bottleneck wasn't there. When dealing with servers, high core counts, low ram frequencies and high cas latencies... every bit helps.

Agreed but 16 dimms 8 per cpu a must for eypc in all my testing way more important than speed.ran 16 at 2133 destroyed 8 at 2400 in almost all test in windows 10. With 2400 in right slots also.cant wait for 2666 testing should be a nice bump from reviews. To get supermicro to post with 2133 need a stick per cpu of at least 2400 then put all 2133 in. The I'm will run at 2133 like if you had 16 dimms per cpu it would download all.good news is memory bandwith is at 250 in aida64 as advertised exactly 2 times my dual 2683v3 same latency. It's less than half that with 8 sticks of 2400 4 per cpu.
