I have SSDs in post 1? Probably under other items... not sure I am willing to cover those under the 30% offer though, that might end badly for me;) Will shoot you a pm

nice stuffs.

My home lab is too small for having any benefit (regarding the cost) to jump on the 100Gb.
I already had difficulties to saturate 40Gb links

But for real networks theses switches are awesomes.
No home lab is too small for 100G, just run iperf 24x7 =)

Well its a 10G RJ45 based switch, so it generates some heat.
Its defined as

Acoustic Noise (at 30 C)
38.9 dB

If all else fails, there are lower noise fans available:

Edit:
For me personally I think it would be too loud, but I am running Zero Clients since I didnt want to listen to fans any more, so maybe a bit biased;)

sure, just wanted to make the points that
1. some ppl think its too loud
2. its not too hard to mod to turn the noise down
:)

Ouch. :(
Interesting this only affects the multi 10G port models, not the 1g/10 mixed versions

With a 30% discount, that SB7800 is really starting to look tempting...
Any "cheap" cables and adapters could you recommend for it? Or do you want to get rid of some along with it?
Do you see any chance of making this thing even quieter? With the setup I have in mind, that switch would probably stand out as far as noise is concerned.

Well that totally depends on your requirements/goals, but I'd probably suggest to run Mellanox on the other side too.
CX4's are not that expensive any more and neither are 3m DACs if you're lucky.

I probably could spare some, but would need to take stock first since I just moved my core switch to 100G and need a few myself;)

Re noise - I have not tried replacing the fans inside, but that might be possible. Since they are fully modular its not even a big risk as spares are easily available.
