I am debating the purchase of a used Dell XC630 Hyper-Coverged Appliance as ESXi host (7.0 U3) for a homelab and was wondering if anyone has had any successes/failures with this platform for this use.

Thanks

Did you ever get any feedback on this outside of this page? I am considering the same thing.

It looks to be the same as an r630.
I believe this to be true as well. It appears to simply be a specific configuration of the R630.

I manage hundreds of Dell R630's (with some of them being ESXi hosts; zero compatibility issues) and they're great. I wouldn't really recommend a 1U server for homelab though unless you're not bothered by screamingly loud noise. 1U also limits the flexibility of the system to some degree.
