How do I fix this? I'm new to servers and learning as I go. I didn't think it would be plug and play but I at least expected to boot into Ubuntu. Which I didn't. The SAS connector for the 2.5" Perc up front is the correct connector for the board connection but it refuses to boot. I have a couple HBAs with different connectors to the backplate. Is it as simple as installing a different HBA and getting a converting cable?

Any help would be appreciated.

TIAS but in general servers are pretty much vendor-customized and won't be happily accepting system internals from other vendors like in your case, don't be all too surprised. Report if you'll succeed. Also maybe try re-flashing your PERC into LSI firmware, as mentioned here: Introduction - Fohdeesha Docs just make sure you've 100% got supported model.
