Dell R710 gen 2 memory question

Hello, I currently have a Dell r710 gen 2 with 16x4gb of hynix 1333mhz Pc3-10600 (HMT151R7TFR4C-H9) memory.

Can I add 2x8gb dimms to fill the slots or do I need to add 2x4gb?

is it a single CPU or dual CPU setup.
here is DELL memory config map : Poweredge R710 Memory Upgrade Configuration - Dell Community

as per DELL the memory channels MUST be balanced. so if you have 2 CPUs with ram in each CPU related bank (in your case 8 sticks per CPU bank)
so if you put new sticks in you may need to use one in bank A and one in Bank B as per one stick per CPU bank. or get a second matching set and use 2 per bank. also make sure you match slot numbers to if one is in A4 the second needs to go to B4 also make sure ram speeds are the same per set
