I just setup and started adding drives to a 730XD with Windows Server 2016. I tried booting to a USB drive from the front management USB port but was unsuccessful.
Back into Windows I plugged the same Sandisk USB drive into the same front port and noticed that the drive appears and dissapears repetitively as though it were being added and removed over and over. I've left the drive in the port for over a minute to see if it would stop......it didn't. I then tried 2 more USB drives one after the other to duplicate the issue. Both drives did the same thing.......appeared and dissappered at a consistent interval until I unplugged them. No other hardware issues to speak of. The USB ports on the back of the machine function normal. I posted this in Procs and Motherboards because I assume USB ports are integrated into the MOBO even at the server level??

Thoughts? Ideas? I am a desktop savvy with limited server experience so feel free to geek out with some ideas/fixes.

i would download the manual for your unit, and see if they have the part num for that usb port.
you may be able to get a new part to replace the bad usb port if that is really important for you.
