I personally use a 7048p and while it has some quirks, its been rock solid, and I got a pretty good deal on mine, upgraded from a 5524p after needing more ports and the added L3 functionalities of the 7048p, while I haven't played with them yet, they appear to be vastly more expansive versus the 5524p.
That being said, I sold my 5524p to a friend who only runs 3 subnets, with only 1 inter vLan rule handled by his router itself, and as a L2 device, hes been nothing but happy with it.
The 7048p manual is extremely extensive, almost 2000 pages and really explains things clearly for professionals and novices, I highly reccomend either depending on L2 or L3 needs, with my only major gripe being how loud the damn fans are, and how much of a process it can be upgrading to quiter fans that the switch won't throw a fit over.
