I have a Dell Powerconnect 2724 and I just went 10gb on my test lab area. The testlab area is using an HP Procurve 6400cl - CX4 ports vs rj45... so..
I am trying to figure out if it is possible to get them connected together so I can ditch the 1gb lines on my testlab pcs.

    for the powerconnect it states..
the 2724 has two SFP slots in a combo port arrangement with the 23rd and 24th gigabit Ethernet port

    the 6400cl states
The HPE 6400 cl Switch Series consists of 6-port 10 GbE stackables with optional 10 GbE add-on modules.

any help greatly appreciated, or ill just have to keep both networks separate...

    You can't

As you stated the 2724 has SFP ports, not SPF+, so no 10gb connection to this switch.
