Several of the spec sheets also say UDIMMs, but then also say it only supports Registered ECC DIMMs. For the R350 it also shows support for 16 DIMMs, which is unlikely too.

I think Dell's spec sheets weren't double checked for accuracy.

Yes, the server supports only ECC Unbuffered Memory and does not support Registered Memory. Here is the detailed video about it.
