Does anyone know if Dell-Compellent hardware is compatible with standard servers?
Here is what I am looking at:
Dell Compellent EB 2425 24 x 2 5" 2U Disk Array w Dual 3 Port SAS Controllers | eBay
$599 for a 24-bay JBOD chassis and dual power supplies. It looks like it can take dual SAS controllers too.
Here's the crazy question - what would happen if you took this chassis and used a SFF cable to hook it up to a standard server with SAS enabled?
Has anyone tried it?
Dell bought Compellent after they lost 3par to HP. I don't have any idea how much they customized or locked their systems.
