So, I have a vendor with brand new C6100 Barebones (Yes, Brand New in the original box.) for $575.00 each. But I need to purchase in bulk/quantity to get this price. If I can get at least 9 others looking at purchasing a unit I can make the deal. These are the XS23-TY3 with the Mezzanine Slots (Latest version.).

I am also working on a similar deal for the C6220 Barebones but these are $1,250.00 each! Brand new in the original boxes. A minimum order quantity on these would be 9 other units to make the deal happen!

These are both excellent prices! and are bulk only. So if I cant get the quantity and only get 8 buyer its not going to happen. and the quantity he has is limited with no more coming, so he says!

I am not looking for any money up front! (No scams!) I would purchase the units and ship to you VIA UPS C.O.D. for shipping and a nominal fee of $79.00 to cover my expense for shipping them to me to start.
Are the C6220 the 2 node or 4 node versions?

Thanks RB , from the reading c6220 is 4 node, each node system board doesn't really much differ with c6110 but at this point of time , xeon e5 (e3 doesn't support DP) and memory are the big challenge to bring down the price

THe C6220 comes in two flavors (Power Edge wise excluding all that DCS wackyness).
  • 2 Node with dual PCIe slots (full height, half length and full height, full length) and a mezzanine slot.
  • 4 node with single PCIe slots and a mezzanine slot.

The ram pricing is not too bad these days but the processors, being current gen (more or less), are still quite pricey. You could look to fill up on ES (Engineering Sample) versions as they appear on EBay although I have read that they sometimes do not like dual processor setups (anyone using ES flavor E5s able to comment). The Intel Xeon E5-2420 arn't a bad starting point for 6 cores but even the 4 core 2603 & 2609 should be reasible. You are unlikely to find them for $50 a pop though :).

I am running a pair of E5-2665 ES chips on an Asus board and they run great. I think about $330 a piece around Sept.
Which ASUS motherboard? I am using two with a Z9PE-D8 WS and they are working very well.

I have the ASUS TS700-X7-PS4 which is a really nice system. Good case, hotsawp bays, and even a mount location for LSI battery. This has the Z9PA-D8 board that you reviewed earlier last year.

I'm using ICY Docks as well with no issues.

Thanks i will try the ICY Docks. What i got was an ICY Box it seems. Sounds the same and costs a similar amount but totally woeful design

Oh and i have tried mixed SaS and Sata SSD's on the same backplane. It works even if the docs claim otherwise. As my SaS drives die i will replace them with SSD's now. Save a heap on power too.

I get the Dell adapters (9W8C4).

Can be had for around $11 on ebay. Shipping takes some time though.
Those are really iffy in a c6100. I put four into a c6100: Two worked fine, one worked until you bumped the chassis, and one never worked. It turns out - surprisingly - that they position the drive a few millimeters further forward than other solutions, which means that your drives aren't fully inserted into the backplane.

I noticed that the bottom nodes (which are #2 and #4) will not power on if the top nodes (which are #1 or #3) are not powered on

Has anyone else observed this?
