I bought another batch of Dell c6100 SAS mezzanine cards from a vendor who is no longer dealing in C-series Dell equipment. I needed nine cards to convert the rest of my c6100s to 6G, but got a deal by buying all of them. This is the last batch of cards that they have, so act now if you want to avoid the ultra-high prices charged by resellers.

c6100 mezzanine bridge boards - $23

c6100 3G LSI SAS1068e SAS/SATA mezzanine cards Y8Y69. Plenty fast for non-SSD drives - $49

c6100 6G LSI SAS2008 SAS/SATA cards XX2X2 - 6GB/s and 350K IOPS - $169 or $600 for a set of four - PM me. SOLD

A set of four 6G XX2X2 SAS/SATA mezzanine cards with brackets and cables for c6100 - expensive but easy if you don't already have brackets and cables - $997 SOLD

Important: c6100 mezzanine cards mount with brackets and cables, either special parts from Dell or small parts custom made by you. If you need some help figuring out what to do, message me and I'll help.

Hey dba

I might be wrong but when looking around for deals of these (especially the set with 4 complete cards) i found the following:

Dell C6100 C6145 C6105 XS23 TY3 SAS SATA RAID Y8Y69 MEZZANINE Card w Cables | eBay

That is if I am not wrong the same set for 99$ so more than half price compared to the deal above.
Hi Andyreas,

The eBay auction that you linked is for the 3G Y8Y69 card with brackets and cable, not the 6G cards. That auction is a good deal if you need everything (card plus brackets and cable) and do not need 6G speeds - SSD speed. It's an even better deal if you take the "best offer" approach. I bought four sets from that vendor for $80 each in order to get the brackets for use in one of my c6100s.

I'm selling the far more rare 6G LSISAS2008 version, part number XX2X2. These support 6G speeds, far more IOPS, and 3TB+ drives.

If you want 6G speeds and also need the brackets and cable, it can make sense to buy the 3G parts from that acution for $80 (or maybe even less) just to get the brackets and cable, and then buy bare XX2X2 6G cards. The cables and brackets are interchangeable. That approach would be less expensive than my full set of four cards plus cables auction, though a bit more work of course.

By the way, I mistakenly said 3G in my original text, which very likely caused confusion. I just corrected the text in the original post: The 3G y8y69 cards are $49 and the 6G XX2X2 cards are $169.

I just picked up one of these SAS2008 cards (XX2X2), too.

I previously purchased a SAS1068E card (Y8Y69) and missed the fact that the would only handle 2TB drives, but since I need the brackets and cables that came with it for the SAS2008, looks like I'll do OK.

I should probably start selling off the parts I ended up not needing as I experimented with setting up my C6100. :)

If anyone needs c6100 mezzanine brackets and cables, here is one option:

Dell C6100 C6145 C6105 XS23 TY3 SAS Sata Raid Y8Y69 Mezzanine Card W Cables | eBay

This eBay listing is for a c6100 3G (not 6G) SAS mezzanine card with all of the brackets and cables. They are asking $90 with free shipping but accepting offers. These 3G cards are plenty good for 2TB and smaller drives. For large drives or to get full speed from SSD drives, the 6G cards are necessary. I have no relationship with this vendor, but I did buy four from them in order to get the brackets.
