I am thinking about getting a BOSS S-1 from ebay and trying it out in my Microserver Gen 10 Plus.

The user's guide (https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/boss-s-1_users-guide_en-us.pdf) mentions supported systems (all of them Dell PowerEdge) as well as three supported SSDs.

Now the question: Does anyone know if that kind of stuff is hardcoded and it will REFUSE to work with anything else or is this the only thing that Dell supports but it will probably work fine on other machines?

I am mostly concerned about e.g. the ability to use the UEFI setup.

I have a similar card (non Dell branded) in my R620.. the problem is that indeed not all systems see the interface and therefor you can use it within the OS, but not as a boot device.. I had the same device in my Mac Pro which funny enough was OK to boot OSX from it, but not Windows (so my Windows stayed on my standard 6G SSD)
