EDIT: Final prices.

2x Wiwynn open compute server $380.00 NEW
The ebay seller sonitekcomputer raised the Wywinn OC server 50 dollars each, 40 per server and shipping is up 10. Now it is 580 for 2 servers.

They kept the make offer, but a 50 dollar increase in one day, frown.

A word of caution. I have ordered a few servers from this seller, with four having arrived so far. All had sustained chassis damage during transport. I am not sure if this occurred during transport to the trans-shipper, or during their journey overseas to their final destination. I managed to straighten two of the chassis myself as the damage was fairly minor, but the other two, well. Suffice to say that they are currently at the premises of a local vintage car restorer, who is attempting to straighten-out the drive bays. Fortunately, none of the circuit boards seems to of been damaged, but until I can power them up I cannot be sure.

Well I guess since the Quantas barebones have sold out he jacked the price up.

One of the two I received had the power supply retainer pin broken off but I decided that the hassle of returning it just for that was not worth it.

Hi, Klee. Did you ever do a how-to write-up for this? I have a couple of OC servers with CPU and RAM now, and I'm waiting on getting a circuit ran to where I'm going to put them. I'm excited to get going on Monero mining!

Thanks for figuring this out!

It's not done, just need to edit it a little and find the screenshots I took.

To be honest the OC servers have been running great with no need to even fool with them that I keep forgetting to finish the how-to.

Currently getting ~725H/s on each of 24 nodes similar in configuration to @Klee's (ie Wiwynn SV7210 chassis, 2 x E5-2660 V1s, and 2 x 4GB RDIMMs per node). Not sure if the difference in hash rate is due to using a Docker-based miner, or changes in difficulty since @Klee reported his hash rate using stak.

Suffice to say that the payback period on the hardware is, ahem, "a while".

24 nodes  . When you turn on all the nodes, does your neighborhood experience electrical brown out?

Indeed @Patrick. I was doing my happy dance as XMR rose above $50 USD over the past few days, but see that the difficulty has shot up by 3 billion in the same period. The effect on my cumulative hash rate is quite striking. According to dwarfpool, I seem to of lost around 4kH/s, and I cannot for the life of me seem to find it laying around anywhere :(

Considering what's going on at minexmr, it's not surprising that the difficulty has shot up. I imagine other pools are experiencing similar things.
Someone is either periodically bringing a humongous botnet online or there are large datacenters somewhere used to mine in the off hours. I don't know what else can generate such humongous (300,000) and consistent swings in the number of connections.

Yes and the peaks are at mid day and bottoms exactly at midnight. Nice rhythm...

Does anybody know how these guys overclock e5 2660 from stock 2.6GHz to 3.0Ghz
Supermicro X9DR3-F 2 CPU - 16 Core - 32 Threads
Intel Xeon E5 2660 @ 2999.3 MHz - CPU-Z VALIDATOR

e5 2660 all cores at 3Ghz (multiplier 30x) on Dell T5600 0Y56T3 motherboard
2 CPU - 16 Core - 32 Threads
Intel Xeon E5 2660 @ 2991.78 MHz - CPU-Z VALIDATOR

@Klee
I've found cpu-z validator with e5 2660 clocked to 3.0 and even 3.1 Ghz on Quanta windmill nodes, same as your nodes
Is there exists a way to overclock these e5 xeons?
Intel Xeon E5 2660 @ 3099.28 MHz - CPU-Z VALIDATOR

MineXMR's mid day is far off mine as well. I think their stats are local time for them.
Still I hope the MineXMR stats are at least accurate. Hop over to minergate if you want to have fun with stats - they claim to have more hash rate in their pool than the whole world does in some coins...

E5-26XX are not overclockable except for just a little bit via BCLk and that is not worth doing.

My E5-2660 v1's in my open compute servers have a all core speed of 2.7 Ghz. They will boost higher but not with all the cores.

Very cool to see I'm not the only insane person who lays in bed at night trying to hash (hah!) this stuff out in my head.
Thank you for putting so much work into it.

It looks like the prices for the Wiwynn stuff has gone up and even the procs are looking like $70 each so I went for the following:

I got some 1U HP dual E5-2450L @ 1.80GHz.
Totals: 620.2 619.0 619.7 H/s
Highest: 629.1 H/s
They are running 150W full load.
4.13 H/s per watt.
2.00 H/s per $1
(all I had to do was install Ubuntu to a SDHC card I slid onto the motherboard and plug them into the kill-a-watt :)

(edit: scratch this, they are all dual slot cards :(
I'm seriously considering adding a GTX 1050 to get me closer to 1K. It should fit in the PCI-e slot just fine and I don't think it needs external power.
That should get me to 960H/s and
4.26 H/s per watt
2.12 H/s per $1

What do ya'll think?
