On Sunday evening, I did some thorough searching on on Ebay (US) for all the 32GB DDR4 EEC REG that I could find at ~$85 or less. I kept to Buy it Now Listings that had multiple sticks to sell and weren't 3DS/TSV.

I found a half dozen or so between "Components and Parts...--->RAM" and "Server Components---> RAM" sections. But, it was almost midnight when I finished, so I knocked off and thought I'd come back the next morning to decide which to purchase.

But, by the next day at 9:00am they were all gone! Every last one! Even a "new" listing with over 100 on offer was sold out overnight.

The cheapest I can see for 16GB DDR4-3200 RDIMM modules - from Samsung/SK Hynix/Micron etc is around $100 per module. A few months ago the price was $90 ... so definitely it has gone up !

Anything < $85 for 32G DDR4 2133 is a good price in the current market.

What's the best (current, june 2020) used ram/CPU/Mobo combo for maxing out ram? I've been going in circles trying to find some combo to set up a Freenas box. Currently I have DDR3-32gb ECC back when it was expensive and a 4 core chip. I end up either finding cheap ram, but massively expensive CPUs, or cheap CPU and massively expensive mobo, or....

There's gotta be a combo somewhere.
