Hi all,

I have a datto board in my truenas server that im wanting to update the bios on to the latest available, as well as the BMC chip. however, i cant find any firmware files for it. I have also read that people have flashed Asrock firmware to it, but i am also unable to locate said Asrock firmware.

Would any of the members here have what i need?

From what i can tell, i have the following
BMC - 1.01.05 (Taken from the POST screen)
BIOS - L1.13A (i think)
BMC - 0.16.1 (from within the Bios)

And then down the bottom, i have the AMI blue banner with V 2.17.1255 in it

Many thanks

I haven't heard of people flashing asrack firmware.
Do you have a link or something?

There was a long thread on here for flashing other gigabyte firmware, so far that seems to have been mostly successful.

EDIT:
My bad, was on a different datto board in my head.

Yours looks exactly like the asrack, so the firmware you found should work i guess.

That board is just a Asrock Rack board. Be sure to set jumpers 3, 4, and 6 to close pins 1 and 2. That will override any Datto firmware settings. I own this board. I pulled it from a Datto 1U server, and flashed to the 1.30 BIOS and 00.16 BMC. It worked fine for me. I flashed the BMC first, using socflash.exe version 1.2 and Freedos on a USB stick. Then I used the updated BMC to update theBIOS

These are nice boards. They make really decent TrueNAS systems. I found a 60MM to 50MM 3D printed fan adapter on Ebay, and substituted a Noctua 60MM fan for the 50MM noise maker that came with it. Works fine. Just one word of advice: If you decide you need to remove the CPU cooler to re-apply thermal paste, be very careful. I bricked a board by doing that. I used too much force trying to get the cooler off and broke some of the BGA solder connections under the CPU. Make sure you run that CPU for a bit and let it really heat up the existing CPU paste to loosen it up first.

Can you provide some more info on the jumping of pins?

Why is this needed? Do they need to remain jumped after flashing?

After RTFM, am i correct in you meaning these jumpers?

I reached out to the Asrock team, and they provided me the ftp server details and i have downloaded the latest BMC and Bios files for it directly from them

Is there anything else I need to do, as i have read that some people have had issues converting it from Datto FW to the AsRock FW.

Yes those are the jumpers. I had no issues with the ASrock firmware after I closed those jumpers.

1.30 and 0.16. Same as you mentioned.

After this, I will look into modifying it so I can get bifurcation working on the x16 slot. That would be nice. I have read some people have had success.

Honestly, if you are into the ASrock/Datto boards, the S4P2143/D2143D8UM board is better for bifurcation. It is already enabled in the BIOS for the X16 slot, plus you get the mezzanine connectors, it offers more PCI lanes through the chipset and has fewer PCI lanes already dedicated to things like the HBA or the 10gbe NICs. I will be moving my TrueNAS machine from the D1541D4U-2T8R to a S4P2143/D2143D8UM board. My ConnectX-4 dual sfp28 mezzanine card should arrive today. The D1541D4U is more suited to SATA or SAS drives I think.
