EDIT 6 April 2021: Updated price ($1,000 off)

I've decided to give up the 5U, three-server setup I have colocated at a Dallas area datacenter:
  • 3x Supermicro PIO-618R-TDLR-BK0-LC019, each with:
    • CSE-813LT 1U chassis (two hot-swap 3.5" bays), dual PSUs
    • X10DRD-LT motherboard, dual socket, 8 DIMM slots, Intel X540 dual port 10GBaseT
    • 1x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2683 v4 @ 2.10GHz (16C/32T, 3GHz max turbo)
    • 128GB ECC RAM (4x SK Hynix HMA84GR7MFR4N-UH 32GB DDR4-2400 ECC RDIMM)
    • 2x SanDisk CloudSpeed 2 Eco 1.92TB MLC SSD (SDLF1CRR-019T-1H)
  • MikroTik CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS router (2x25G SFP28, 12x10G SFP+)
  • MikroTik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM (12x10GBaseT, 4x10G SFP+ combo)
  • 10G SFP+ optic, 10G DAC, ethernet and power cables, rack rails
Everything here is fully functional with all necessary cabling, including the 10G optic for upstream connectivity, the 10G DAC between the router and the switch, and the ethernet cables. The MikroTiks are still under warranty, and the SSDs are essentially unused and rated for 2.10 PBW each (1 DWPD for 3 years).

US$4,500 US$3,500 for the whole thing, local pickup from the DC only (I'm remote so unfortunately can't deal with the logistics of selling individual items)

Also, if you're interested in just taking this operational setup over as-is within the co-lo, I'd expect the hosting company would allow me to transfer the contract to you. I'm paying $174/mo total for 10U of space, power and 10G burst internet (1G commit/unmetered).

That's a great price on the colo, and seems cheaper than I'm seeing. I'm currently shopping around for 2U and the lowest I've found is around $100 for 1Gb burst 100 unmetered. How did you get your price?

Dumb luck I guess, going over specials at WebHostingTalk and negotiating prices down where the offered package was more than I needed.

That said, $100 for 2U + power + 100M is not necessary bad, but the marginal cost for additional space and bandwidth is likely to be much less. Also, power is a surprisingly large part of the cost, so if you have low-power hardware, make sure to state the exact amperage you expect you need. It can make a big difference.

@markonen Are you in that DC that starts with a C and ends with a 1? If not are you renting from a reseller or direct from the DC itself?

Bump. Trying to work out whether the price is wrong or if there's simply nobody in the area :)

Maybe a bit. You can piece together one of those servers for ~$1200 on eBay buying the components individually. Usually people expect that things be a bit cheaper when sold as a lot and that you'll beat eBay pricing on top of that.

Local pickup will unfortunately only limit things further.

Thanks, makes sense. I think the original price was reasonable for someone who needed/wanted the exact setup I’m selling. But it’s been a month and no such unicorn has presented themselves :p ... so perhaps this has broader appeal at $1k off.
