Anyone have any dealings with CyberPower for their UPS? I have one that is just less than a year old, was working Friday and dead today. Just filled in their contact form requesting warranty service and was kind of expecting an automated reply to say they got it. Nothing so far. Is a CP1500PFCRM2u which is a small rack mount unit good for about 1000 watts. I was pulling 500 watts when it failed (normal draw from my lab these days).

Just wondering if anyone else in the USA has had to warranty one of their smaller UPS units?

So far no contact from them after almost 24 hours. This basically reflects the negative comments on Amazon, and looks like they will get another 1 star from me. $350 a year would be the cost of this model, gets you up into an APC real quick if you look at it this way. Chances of getting a dud are a non-zero it seems, especially as that 1 year mark elapses.

I wonder if the Tripplite brand would be better or the same quality, price is roughly the same.

I'll update this in about a week or if the situation is rectified sooner, but I have doubts. Maybe I'll fill in the form again and see what happens.

i had a ups replaced, it was a larger 2u rack mounted one. It was a while ago. they did send me new battery, and another unit, but their packaging sucks so 3 units were destroyed by ups. They sent the final unit on a pallet lol. it did make it okay but i ended up with a pallet.

Go to this website and register an account and then your unit.

Then try their ticket submission.

You may have already done this. If so then i guess wait on support to get back to you i guess.

PS i registered my devices under my business, not sure that helped or not but just mentioning it.

They did get back to me, asked for 5 steps to test, which I had done before sending the request, and I added more info that I found after sending the request.

I unplugged the battery and measured the voltage at 25 volts, which is probably right on. When I plugged it back in that was a loud pop and bright flash from an arc. After this the UPS is working. When I mentioned this to CyberPower, then said that since it is working, I should monitor it and if it changes or throws an error, reply to the email.

Reading reviews on this UPS on Amazon, there are more than a few that have the UPS trip out as "overload" on some of the plugs on the back. These loads were said to be under 100 watts each.

Also since this happened, I'm only showing around 400 watts total, it was closer to 500 watts total before the crash. I did not smell the magic smoke, so I don't think anything burned up, but the change in reported power is odd since all the same equipment is powered up and running the same loads as before the crash.

I guess the arc might been from left over power somewhere jumping to the battery connector. I wonder if the unit was over charging the battery or something causing the extra wattage?

i had my unit work a bit with a new battery and still fail later on. I just replied to the original email chain and they decided to send me another unit. which again i ended up have to get it delivered three times lol. bad packaging and ups seems to hate those boxes the ups come in...
