You could 3d print one if you got a printer, I don't use an internal fan. One strapped to the top of the unit does the job of keeping the full case cold to the touch which helps lower internal temps.

I have a fan strapped to the top as well. Just thought putting an internal one will help cool the nvme and ram better.

Yep I'll give the 3d print a go

I've seen a few 3d prints for some of the models in the usual print libraries. It's worth a search there.

Problem is with a fan at the bottom it's not gonna pull in much air unless it's a loud fan. There is just not enough clearance from the table it sits on. Also there is no vents for the air to go out from other than. The bottom so that's just going to recirculate hot air.

I find the drive doesn't even get warm in this box running opnsense since it's not doing constant writes. In fact it doesn't do any writes since opnsense is set to log to ram.
I also put nvme heatsink on it too so that's gonna keep temps low

Has anybody tried to replace the original thermal paste with PTM7950?
dont know where i can get legit version of that from. fakes everywhere.
for something like this box id be tempted to use that graphite kryopad thing which is a thermal pad that has very good heat transfer and doesnt suffer from pumpout like paste does so can run forever without being needed to be taken apart again for repasting.

I've been reading several posts about lowering my Topton's n100 idle power usage without luck. I just don't think I can get it much below 9 to 10 watts.

I've also been reading lots of posts about replacing the thermal grease/paste on these mini PCs. I basically use opnsense in its stock configuration with no IDS/IPS, occasionally connect to my network when I'm away from home and no other options/features enabled. After logging in, the opnsense dashboard lists the temp for all 4 CPUs at 32 celsius. After a minute or two, the temp drops to 29 and sometimes as low as 27. Over the next 5 minutes or so, the temp will fluctuate between 27 and 32. 29 to 30 seems to be the average. Would it be worth repasting? I have some Noctua paste left over from a recent desktop build.
Do you have an internal fan in yours? Mine hovers at 40 degrees.

i dont have internal fan on mine but external fan on top keeps the entire case at room temp which in turn keeps internal temps lower.

I have a slow-spinning 120 mm fan sitting on top of the case. The fan is blowing up so that it pulls hot air away from the case. No internal fans in my Topton n100.

i got a 120mm fan doing around 500rpm blowing down onto the case, warm air pumps out the front and back of the fin stack. works very well.

I have the same config and repasted when I first received the device a year ago, but it's always hovered at 38 - 42 degrees. I was surprised to see someone sub 30.

It's primarily just running OPNsense, home assistant and adguard on Proxmox

Which unit are you running?

My Topton n100 4-port is running a stock install of opnsense on bare metal and has never been repasted.

No other services are running other than Wireguard server with a single Google Chromecast as a client for sharing a streaming account. For a few seconds at a time, the temp reported in the opnsense dashboard drops as low as 25 celsius.

Those temps are crazy good.

I'm running the 4 port variant (C)
