I have seen that before a few times, it's down to the version of sas2flash. I reckon you need to use an earlier version of sas2flash, one that allows you to override the checksum mismatch and write the file anyway :)

I got it fixed. Needed a combination of writing sbrempty in dos mode and doing the rest (flash to 6gbpsas.fw, reboot, crossflash old 2118it.bin, reboot, flash latest p20 2118it.bin).

the lesson of the day ladies and gents: if you have trouble with flashing lsi cards in dos mode, just find a UEFI machine and use a uefi shell.
