Long story short (was posting on Storage Review), I followed the guide here to flash my 9341-8i (which wont work on non-Server boards due to lack of INT15 support) to the latest 9300-8i firmware. The card now works, Windows loads driver (not just Code10's it) and I loose Raid support but get JBOD.
However.. the performance is utterly hopeless!
All using OCX Trion 150 480GB drives
- 1 drive on onboard Intel PCH (ie regular old 97x chipset)
534MB/s
- 1 drive on LSI 9300i
Upto 200MB/s
- 3drives on Intel PCH (tested Windows stripe and Intel soft RAID0)
1400MB/s
-4 drives on LSI 9300i (using Windows striping)
200MB/s !!!!
The LSI card is running at 8x on a PCIe 3.0 slot (as per Aida64). No errors. Megaraid SM seems useless on a non-Raid card, doesnt let me do anything.
What am I missing here? Is this an artifact of the crossflashing? I might try a Ubuntu USB stick boot later and quickly test non-Windows performance.
