Yes, great price!

SR-IOV is much better with these than ConnectX-3. Glad to be able to pick up a couple of these at a "reasonable" price.

After my 8259CL experience, would not want to ever deal with Ughhnixsurplus again. If you deal with them, make sure you can return everything, no questions asked, also with only few shipping costs and no taxes or customs duties involved.

Excludes everyone in EU for example. Because you will foot the bill if they ship you grade D stuff from the trash bin. I paid 200 in unrecoverable fees and customs duties out of my own pocket for nothing. Because on top of all the hassle, German customs were of the opinion that if I want to return a good, it has to be "under their supervision". Which I didn't, because I didn't know, and had I known, I couldn't and wouldn't have, because the clock was ticking to return the good in time so Unixsurplus would refund at least the product cost. I suspect this supervisory return would also have involved more fees from German officials so that's the "wouldn't" in that sentence.

Mellanox CX3 and CX4 of course very popular choices on STH.

Nvidia started to "eol" them. Newest Version of winof2 for example doesn't Support them anymore.

Also of note, at 100 GBit/s per direction we are at 160% of PCIe 3.0 x16 capacity already. Hence single port makes actually sense, with a second card for redundancy in another slot.

Of course the more pertaining pain point is nvidia is stating to eol these cards as pointed out by @i386

AFAICT, the CX4 is the last to support 56GbE. So, those of us who what to use that speed are stuck.

Has anyone been able to link up at 56GbE on a CX5 or later?

I may have misunderstood your note but PCIe is full duplex so can handle full bandwidth in each direction simultaneously... just a bit less than 128Gb/s so a single port is only ~78% of PCIe 3.0 x16 capacity. Seems to me the only value of the second port is for redundancy... unless you're running a point-to-point mesh network.
