Connect all SC747 case fans

The Supermicro SC747 contains 8 fans (4 in the middle, 2 in the rear, and 2 optional in the rear). Additionally, a CPU fan must be connected.

Motherboards such as the H12SSL or H14SSL only allow for 6 PWM 4-pin fans in addition to the CPU fan.

How can I connect 2 more fans using the standard Supermicro components, without resorting to untested, cheap solutions?

Use a "workstation" board designed specifically for this chassis then, supermicro has boards with up to 10 fan headers (they are probably older and less interesting than your listed boards) ._.

by using a board on the supported list.

There are plenty of well tested fan splitter and controllers on the market, but if you want to use only supermicro parts... you have to use a supported config.

If I were to do an unsupported config, I would do a 4:1 hub on the push pull on the accelerators.

I wonder if a single fan header supports 2 of those fans. I believe the max was 3A on my fans. A lot of consumer motherboards are 1-2A. I don't think ive seen any listed in supermicro motherboard manuals.

I've used those PWM splitters a million times with Supermicro boards. They work perfectly fine (They take their power from a molex or SATA power connector, so the power rating of the fan header is irrelevant), the only issue you may face is mounting them.

(A number of those splitters come with adhesive backing, any flat spot in the chassis will work).

I wonder if a single fan header supports 2 of those fans. I believe the max was 3A on my fans. A lot of consumer motherboards are 1-2A. I don't think ive seen any listed in supermicro motherboard manuals.
no clue, I suggested a hub, which would have power injected normally, but a valid critique and suggestion would be to check fan wattage when selecting a hub.

Ah I had thought fan splitters were just those small cables to daisy chain 3 fans to one fan header.

They often have a molex or sata power connector to inject power into. Signals from fan header, and power from trad power rails.

That said, you might have to look around a bit to find one that can support what you need.
a 54w hub only gets you 2 fans for some of those...
