Connect 2 Dell R815 without switch

Hello guys,

I am fairly new to networking and i would like to ask a question. I have 2 Dell R815 servers with the Broadcom 10GbE NIC, Broadcom Dual Port 10GbE SFP+ NIC. I would like to ask if i get 2 direct attach(DAC) passive cables and connect the servers without a switch will they be able to communicate..?

Regarding the connection, if i get this right i connect the ones send port with the others receive port as we do with ethernet cables..?

yes it should work fine with a crossover cable, and it looks like the twinax direct attach cables have that capability built into them
