I have 2 LSI cards in my HP ML350P GEN8 - an HP H220 (9207-8i) and an LSI 9286CV-8e. The HP220 is in IT mode, but fully flashed - bios, UEFI bios, ROM, etc. When both are installed, I only get a prompt at boot to enter the bios for the 9286, and I can't boot to anything attached to the 9207. If I disable the 9286 in the bios, I can enter the bios for the 9207 and boot to it. Obviously there is a conflict between the two, but is there a workaround? I can move to an HP H922 and use the internal and external ports, but I'd really like to find a solution to the current issue. Thanks!

Well, I've given up and will try other options. With 2 cards that roughly share the same firmware/bios (9207-8i and 9205-8e), everything works fine. It appears that the SAS HBA BIOS and the RAID BIOS really do not like each other.

Why do you need two cards with BIOS? Isn't the BIOS only needed for boot?
Good question... I actually only need to boot to the 9207-8i as it controls the front 2.5" drive slots. I need to be able to access the WebBios for the 9286CV-8e so I can configure arrays in my external drive tower. I haven't seen any info on removing the boot bios but leaving the ability to access the WebBios and/or CLI during POST, although I would be willing to try that if it is an option.

I think that depends on your OS. If you are doing windows/Linux, use the LSI storage authority or Megaraid Storage Manager. ESX you are locked into storcli.

I'll have to try that. When I booted to WinPE and tried to use storcli to flash the latest firmware for the 9286CV-8e, it couldn't find the card. I haven't tried from esxi yet.
