My workstation lately is having random reboot problem, especially when playing games.
I've updated all drivers and goes all the way to re-installing windows from scratch and still have the same problem. The computer spec is as follows:

Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Intel I7-3930K (overclocked 4.6Ghz)
4x 8gb Ram (forgot what the brand but running at 1600Mhz)
Geforce GTX780
OCZ Fatality 1K psu
2x Vertex 4 Raid 0 (os drive)

I've tried setting the bios to default with no overclocking, but the problem remain. To make sure my memory is good, i Ran Memtest for 5x pass and its good.

here's the weird part, I can run prime95 or other benchmark tools for hours and hours and it would be fine, I tried encoding using handbrake for hours and it's fine, only when I started playing game that it would just reboot. No blue screen no nothing, feels like someone unplugged my power cable and then plugging it back in after a few second.

What do you guys think could be my problem ?? PS ? Motherboard ??

Just want to see if anyone had experience similar problem here and what is the solutions.

Thank you much.

Did you try to run stress tests for your video card such as Furmark, Valley and others?
Otherwise, some time ago I had a similar problem: my PC rebooted randomly from time to time. However, the problem completely disappeared when I uninstalled PowerChute.

The game is stressing both the cpu and gpu. If you do a linpack test, intel burnin for instance, and a gpu benchmark like furmark simultanously (if that even works), that would be a more reliable way of testing. You did not overclock the bclk right?

My wife now has my i7-3930K machine. I ended up with a very mild overclock for stability reasons. Frankly, I did not need more CPU speed so lower clocks, power consumption and heat/ fan speeds were preferable.

I never run both cpu and gpu stress, i,m going to try that next..... anyway found this great seasonic platinum 1200w ps deal at newegg.... thinking about getting that, but i am not absolutely sure that my PS is the root cause.

First time I ran Furmark the pc reboot almost instantly as soon as furmark started.
Second time I ran it by itself and I was able to complete 15min bench repeatedly.

Running both intel burn in and furmark together give random result, sometimes it would reboot, some other time it doesnt reboot...

I decided to give a new PS a try and bought the newegg deal. SeaSonic Platinum-1200(SS-1200XP3) 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Full Modular Power Supply Intel 4th Gen CPU Compatible 7yr Warranty - Newegg.com I hope new PS will be the cure :)

I've removed OC and reset the bios to default and it still reboot when I played any game.
Anyway, my PS arrive on Christmas eve, perfect timing santa :)
Install them today and been gaming for a few hours without any issue.
I guess for this case it is the PS that's causing the problem, well at least I hope so.
Going to wait for at least a week before I can be absolutely sure that the pc is fix though, because sometimes even with the old power supply I was able to play for a few hours without rebooting.

The arse end of the planet
Lock down the BIOS in areas concerning the RAM (Use XMP) and don't mess with rest.
A dirty PSU output will upset GPU's and boards without warning. 1KW is a little high for the system but then again, it's a OCZ re-bagde job.

I did all that but the result was the same. The computer was running fine for almost 2 years and suddenly start randomly rebooting a few months ago when I added more SSD.
OCZ ps supposedly are made by seasonic and as far as I know seasonic make top notch psu products.
I bought that cpu because I was interested in the individually sleeved cabling that it came with, and the possibility of additional gpu.

Anyway the new PS works great, no reboot so far, but havent been able to play game much. I do notice that it is abit louder during idle though, maybe I should turn on the hybrid mode.
