I currently own a Chenbro RM13704 (which appears to be the same as Inventec B810 and possibly others) which I bought used not long ago. It came with two 2650 cpus and 64GB of non ECC memory.

I tried to upgrade it with two 2697v2 cpus but it doesn't post. BMC reports CPU1 Status: 0x8000. I don't have a VGA monitor with me to be sure, but the sol console remains silent and nothing happens. Already tried booting with a single cpu and memory stick, no deal.

I've seen reports of people getting v2 cpus on B400 series boards so I'm extremely confused. And sad.

I know from experience that various Supermicro X9 Socket 2011 motherboards have this issue. For example, the X9DRi-LN4F+ came in two revisions:
  • Rev 1.01a
  • Rev 1.20
Only the v1.20 will handle the Xeon v2 chips.

The takeaway here is that you should inspect your motherboard for any revision numbers. Also, the 2697v2 is a 130W chip, while the 2650v1 chips are 95W, so make sure your motherboard can handle the higher Watt chips. For example, the X9DRi-LN4F+ can support 135W chips, but the E5-2687W v2 pulls 150W, so it is incompatible.

I think I could test putting a 2650v2 to narrow down the power issue, but the fact this board has never seen a bios update afaik doesn't get me hopeful.

Somebody on a telegram group mentioned it could be possible to hack the v2 support into the bios but I never done bios patching in the past (at least I don't count running a pre-made script to enable some power management feature in a asus notebook bios as "doing" heh).

So just to clarify....the B400 boards are LGA 1155, and many did have v2 support (mine did)....but those had E3-12xxCPUs, not E5-26xx CPUs, which is what is in the B800 series.

I have a B800 series board (technically a Foxconn T2491602, but the BIOS says "B800") and mine won't work with E-26xx v2 CPUs. In fact, I've never read anything where someone has gotten one of these to work with v2 CPUs..and I've looked. If you google Inventec B800 instead of B810, you'll get some hits discussing the subject.

If it helps, someone on a different site posted up a copy of the motherboard manual B800BoardManual.pdf
