Yeah those are nice, I got mellanox 3M ones for $25-30 a yr or so back to connect up to my Juniper EX4300 QSFP 40G eth ports, also used them on Infiniband switch when I had it, worked flawlessly. Nice to have optics built in and fibre to boot not bulky copper DAC's (always repetitive on that acronym).

These be them: $30 too, should provide same functionality. Shipping makes it abt a wash though either way/listing. Save a few bucks w/ my link I guess.

I usually go for these:

HP 656089-001 Infiniband FDR/EN 10/40GB Network Card 649281-B21

The one you have listed looks like a mezzanine card or some sort or maybe proprietary card for a HP blade chassis possibly, I would not risk it.

This is more like what you want:

HP 649281-B21 Infiniband FDR/EN 10/40GB 2P 544QSFP ADAPTER 656089-001 661685-001 | eBay

Or this for a bit more coin: (don't be thrown off by the Infiniband listing, if it's a 649281-B21 it can go IB or ETH mode).

HP 656089-001 Infiniband 10/40GB DP NIC 649281-B21, Full Profile | eBay

EDIT: Sorry for the flood of ebay links for these 40GbE cards, westporter has been good to me in the past as well so wanted to mention them. LOL, I see first and third link are both westporter now, I'd go w/ top of bottom links, probably just top link as it's cheaper and from same reliable source/seller.

Yes, if you have a Gen 8 or Gen 9 with the lan on motherboard (LOM) option then these are a huge win. You get 40Gbe without using a PCI slot.

I run Cisco UCS servers, and the newer ones (2014 forward) all have these LOM slots. When possible I buy a LOM vs a straight PCI card, even if the price is higher. The flexibility later is worth hit.

Looks like these are Mellanox Connectx-3? Are these the dual mode cards that do both IB and Eth? I have a few single ports Connectx-3 VPI cards that are dual mode, but I'm always wary that I'm going to be stuck with an IB card.

If these do 40Gbe as well then this is a steal.

They are dual-mode for sure. I have 4 in total from that seller I listed and they work great hooked to a Juniper EX4300 or Brocade ICX 6610. Seller relisted them at same pricepoint yesterday I believe.
