I went ahead and bought one of these boards: free shipping desktop motherboard new X79 motherboard LGA 2011 support REG ECC server memory All solid boards-in Motherboards from Computer & Office on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group
The one I bought was from amazon, and claimed SLI support. However that has proven to be 100% false, and the seller has fought me tooth and nail on it. I didn't want to link his because he is selling under false pretense. He's told me that there's a "return item" button i'm free to click on amazon. I'd stay away from NicePCman.
Aside from all that...
I loaded it with an E5 2660v2, 32gb ECC registered ram, and a single GTX980. Plugged it into my PC Power & cooling 750w psu, hooked up my 240gb ssd, and away I went.
The system is rock solid, very stable, and lightning fast. 32gb ram is more than I could ever use, but it was $60 from a dell r710 on ebay, so why not.
I bought another x79 board so I would have SLI, which means I have this board/ram sitting here by itself. So I bought a $65 E5 2650L v2 QS 10 core chip. Still waiting for it to arrive, but basically $150 for the board, $60 for 32gb ram, and $65 for 10 core cpu. I don't know what I'll do with it, but it's a lot of power for cheap.
